This past weekend we headed down to Canyonlands for a sunset hike to False Kiva and some star gazing under the new moon. Out of the many times we have been to this area we have never done this monumental hike and I am so glad we were finally able to see it at sunset because this time of day casts the best shadows! ย The only thing I didn’t enjoy were the bats that flew above us as we hiked back out! The desert seems to come alive at night with all the creatures above and around you! We decided to sleep in the back of the truck so we could spend the night looking at the stars. It was a quick, spontaneous trip but those have become some of our favorite because the memories we make last forever.

  1. It is really so nice that you live within driving distance of all these wonderful, places! I am looking forward to a “tour of the West” one of these years. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. You will love it there are so many amazing spots all close together! We can always give you some must see spots to add to your list too! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Definitely not too close! Lol… there were so many of them flying around it was kinda crazy! Thankfully they were small ones, and thankfully they didn’t get too close!

  2. Coming up w/reference names for each adventure is quite clever, probably a whole lot easier than saying “remember that time when…” I think I’ll start doing the same. Stunning photo by the way, really serene looking!

  3. Holy jeez!! the sites you were able to see. What a fabulous experience this must have been. The pictures are stunning, I know probably not as stunning as actually being there to see everything in person

  4. Stunning photos! Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you for everyone getting together for the back to school giveaway this is a huge help!

  5. WOW!!! Your photos are truly awesome!!

    1. Thank you!! I’m so glad you are still reading them! We haven’t been posting as regularly with how busy our summer and life has been lately but we are looking forward to more posts and more trips coming up! Stay tuned for more! ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. It was really neat! You hike down in from the top by the paved road, but once you get down off the trail you realize you are still so high up from the bottom of the canyon! It’s so pretty!
