This past weekend we headed down to Canyonlands for a sunset hike to False Kiva and some star gazing under the new moon. Out of the many times we have been to this area we have never done this monumental hike and I am so glad we were finally able to see it at sunset because this time of day casts the best shadows! Β The only thing I didn’t enjoy were the bats that flew above us as we hiked back out! The desert seems to come alive at night with all the creatures above and around you! We decided to sleep in the back of the truck so we could spend the night looking at the stars. It was a quick, spontaneous trip but those have become some of our favorite because the memories we make last forever.
Oh yes we recall our drive into Canyonlands NP. Did not have the pleasure to spend the night though!

Bats keep the biting insects away! And they’re amazingly adept fliers… they’ll never hit you! π

I loved Canyonlands. As for bats, I enjoy them as long as they don’t fly too close or into the house.

Definitely not too close! Lol… there were so many of them flying around it was kinda crazy! Thankfully they were small ones, and thankfully they didn’t get too close!

Coming up w/reference names for each adventure is quite clever, probably a whole lot easier than saying “remember that time when…” I think I’ll start doing the same. Stunning photo by the way, really serene looking!

It was really neat! You hike down in from the top by the paved road, but once you get down off the trail you realize you are still so high up from the bottom of the canyon! It’s so pretty!
