San rafael

We have been to the San Rafael Swell more times than I can count. It’s no secret this is one of our favorite places to go since we’ve done multiple blog posts about the Swell and it’s where our site title came from. 😉 It’s where my husband and I fell in love, where we escaped to relax and recharge when we needed a break from our 50 + hour work weeks… and now it’s where we are taking our boys so they can grow up exploring and loving this place as much as us.

Dripping Rock

This is the perfect, quick, easy outdoor adventure close to home.

THE HIKE

Hiking has always been something the two of us have loved to do together, and still love to do! It just looks a little different these days. What used to be the two of us hiking 15 miles a day through the desert and rugged terrain has turned into shorter, mini hikes with our babies in tow….but we are so happy that we are still able to get outdoors and hike some of our favorite trails and explore off the beaten path – our favorite way to adventure!

Initiation

We’ve been talking about taking our littlest guy on his first overnight camping trip for a long time now and with a warm weekend weather forecast we decided it was finally time to try it! We packed up what felt like the whole house and headed down to one of our favorite spots where we could enjoy the sunshine and let our kids play in the dirt. Don’t be fooled by this first picture, it was within ten minutes of getting to our camp site and he’s already covered in dirt from head to toe 😉

Winter

We’re still here! Took a slight hiatus from blogging while we welcomed our new sweet babe and adjusted to life with two babies 😉 Even though blogging took a little back burner, we still managed to get out a few times with our kiddies this winter and felt like these little adventures needed a permanent place on our blog. Especially now since winter feels like it is in full force with snow pounding the nation, we wanted to reminisce on warmer (well… kind of warmer ) times!

Manti La Sal

The countdown is on until this next baby comes and we’re still trying to squeeze in a few last adventures while we can! This past weekend we knew we wanted to get out and do something, but didn’t know what. So we just packed up our stuff and loaded up the truck and set out on a drive and didn’t know where we would end up.

Creek

We’re always striving to keep giving this guy new opportunities and experiences, access to nature and the opportunity to run wild, and let his imagination be free.

Midway

Our little dude thrives when he is outside, so we have been trying to make an effort to get him out exploring more and more! This weekend we went to the mountains to hike, let him run around, get dirty, and play in the water.  Hiking these days sure looks a lot different than it used to….now being 7 months pregnant and having a two year old with us… but it’s always so fun and good to get out in the fresh mountain air!

The First Swell

I think we can all agree that life has been crazy the past few months! Nothing is normal, pretty much everyone is working from home, homeschooling their kids, and there is so much uncertainty that a lot of people are crippled with anxiety. With everyone’s schedules and routines interrupted – it felt good to finally be able to go back to one of our familiar places that we love – and leave the craziness of the world behind for awhile. A place that feels just as much like “home”, as being “home” does.
